Back Home

Well, Dave, Nick and I finally arrived back home after a really long drive. 25 hours actually - and we did it straight through. And getting only 2 hours of sleep the night before leaving doesn't help a bit! So I'm not exaggerating by saying I was tired when I got home. So much so that I walked right into a screen door! Ouch.

Heres a picture of our graduating class:

(props to Mr. K for the photo!)

A Collection of Quotes

"It is better to deserve honors and not have them than to have them and not to deserve them."
- Mark Twain

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

- JRR Tolkien

"It is a profitable thing, if one is wise, to seem foolish."
- Aeschylus

"A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice."
- Bill Cosby

"You can determine how confident people are by listening to what they don't say about themselves."
- Brian G. Jett

"There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, that it ill behoves any of us to find fault with the rest of us."
- Anonymous

"May you be a half an hour in heaven before the devil knows you're dead!"
-Irish saying

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.
-Jack Sparrow, in "Pirates of the Caribbean"

2 Months later!

Wow I cant believe its been almost that long! Oh well, I guess that means Im busy with school work and thats a good thing.

Well, this is going to be short. Im supposed to be writing a paper. (Isn't it funny how you just look and look for something to do other than what you're supposed to be doing! Thats life I guess.)

Thats what it was, I just remembered. The retreat caused the drought in posts. After retreat (which was awesome) computers/internet just seemed so unimportant. Anyway, time has been flying, graduation is a little more than a month away. Recently life has been a blur of history quizzes, good ol' metaphysics, Lent, cafeteria "food," pictures, dancing hamsters, a recent square dance, and things like this:

No, Dave's drumming isn't THAT bad! Will just had a bone to pick with him!

Well, must go back to that wonderful history paper! But not before your picture of the day (or more like month!)

I thought this fit the occasion pretty well!

By the way, my smugmug site has a new look and lots of new pictures!

P.S. The "quotes" post will be a collection of all my "Quotes of the Day". I dont know why I didnt think of that before!

Canisius Cup

March 1-4, 2006 we held the Canisius Cup ping-pong tournament. It was the most ping-pong Ive played in a long time, and the most fun Ive had in a while too. We had a little more than a dozen that competed, but the best were from the dorm. I got pretty dang close to taking it all - after beating the unbeatable Joe Stannus in a preliminary round, I lost to him in the finals, but it was awesome all the same. Heres a photo:

Here are some more - theres some videos too.

And I must include the funnies!

hockey and lightning and all that stuff

What to do on a boring night in the dorm...well theres lots, especially if someones got full hockey equipment! Dave suited up so we could take a few shots. Yuppers, right in the junior wing!

Same night, we went out to check out a lightning storm that was happening a few miles away; it was a cloudy night so it was lighting up the whole sky - pretty impressive. Heres one of the shots I got:

And some other random pictures - heres one of me hiding behind a pole while we were throwing the baseball around over at the Carrolls:

Will Watner playing some serious hockey:

A (not so?!) serious lab team.

We may not have done the best in our lab, but we sure had a heck of a lot of fun!

Gmail Talk

Im sure most of you know about the new chat feature that was just added to Gmail...if you dont, you should definitely check it out at gmail.google.com. Ive had Gmail for quite a while now, and its worked awesome for me.

Anyways, for those that do use Gmail Talk, heres a link to list of all the smilies or emoticons that you can use with gmail talk...some of them are pretty funny!

As for the comic of the day, here it is!

Antigone

Well, I never did get to post about the play that the College did here a while ago, so now I think its a good time to mention it, although you may have read about it in the smc pix blog. The cast did an awesome job with the play and we are all looking forward to the next play, the "Taming of the Shrew"!

I took a bunch of pictures of the performance (probably too many!) and I tried to organize them the best I could on my smugmug site. Here is a list of some of the divisions I made:

And of course, I have to include todays comic strip! This as well as the former one are known as "Pearls before Swine" and they are random, stupid, and laugh out loud hilarious!

This one is especially appropriate, considering that everyone gets way too many forwards nowadays!

Comic-a-day

Ive decided to try to post a comic strip that hit me as funny every day. I probably won't do it EVERY day but they should keep coming semi-regularly! Heres the first in the series:

As for whats been going on, lifes back to business as usual; I'm trying to get it into my head that school is still here even though finals are over...and theres one of those oh-so-wonderful History tests tomorrow to help me realize that!

Anyways, the cgshowoff site I mentioned earlier is constantly being approved and added to. Expect a lot more to come, so hop on over, register and keep coming back!

I came across this awesome photo site while looking for photoshop tutorials:
Cambridge in Colour
It has some really breathtaking photos in there - they show how good photography plus some basic photoshop skills can produce awesome results!

Photography

Heres a shot I took the other day right out my window...I took it in the late afternoon and then I messed with the colors to get this effect.

Im putting all my best "photography" pics over at my Flickr site if you want to see some more.

New header, etc

As you can see, I now have a new and improved header!! It was done by Joe Carroll (thanks!) who is pretty dang good at photoshop... Hes got a bunch of pretty sweet creations of his over at Bump on a Blog. The two of us are working on a website/forum for that kind of stuff if you want to check it out -- cgshowoff.com.

Anyways, life is more or less back to normal here now that finals are over (pheeewww!). Sunday we went skating at this "miniature" rink in Manhattan...we basically scared all the other people off of it eventually because of our incredible speed and whatnot. Also, when you start playing crack-the-whip in a rink that small, it kinda turns into a game of hey-lets-see-how-many-people-we-can-knock-down-this-time or something... (actually they might have been scared of the three Canadians that came along!!) Speaking of Canadians, they are crazy when it comes to skating. For example:

Yea...pretty high, eh?!

So, while I'm at the computer, I figured I should have a quick photographic run down of what happened since break and all that. Here we go....

On the last day before break we had a pretty awesome celebration day...everyone was pretty happy that break had finally arrived.

Yup, even good old Squishy was wearing shades!

While back home, we took a family portrait.

Paul and I over break...

Christmas dinner at the Kimball Household...for more christmas photos, click right here!

One of the little parties at our house...now that Gabe learned to play the guitar its awesome!! Lots of fun...

Yup I admit I started to crack up when I saw that look on my face!

Well, its back to the good old school routine, lets hope I can keep on top of everything...
